The 13th edition of The Golf Foundation’s Invitational Fund Raiser was held on the 14th and 15th of July 2023 at KGA, Bengaluru, with a noble objective to create awareness and raise funds for talented young underprivileged golfers. The tournament showcased a perfect blend of serious competition and enjoyable golfing camaraderie. Esteemed dignitaries, passionate golfers, and supportive sponsors gathered to bolster The Golf Foundation’s efforts in nurturing champions from India,
particularly those coming from underprivileged backgrounds, who aspire to make it big in golf on both national and international stages. For the first time, the event spanned two days, featuring a ‘Two Man Team Scramble’ format that encouraged aggressive and strategic golf, requiring an effective partnership between the players. The team of Manish and Rakesh excelled with an impressive score of 53 Nett, surpassing the second-placed team of Veer Ganapathy and Krishna Prasad, who scored 56 Nett, and Sanjay Gaddipati and Prasanna, achieving a score of 58 Nett. The event further engaged golfers with various skill prizes based on activities taken up by The Golf Foundation, demonstrating their dedication to nurturing talent and supporting worthy causes.
The presence of esteemed personalities, including the legendary Syed Kirmani, a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, and former international cricketers Sunil Joshi, Venkatesh Prasad, and Sujit Somasundar, added excitement and prestige to the occasion. Additionally, Femina Miss India 2023 1st Runner-Up was among the chief guests at the event, supporting the cause. Besides raising funds, The Golf Foundation extended its support to 15 caddy boys and girls from the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA). This act exemplified the foundation’s unwavering commitment to providing
opportunities for underprivileged youngsters nationwide, underscoring their dedication to fostering a more inclusive and accessible golfing community. The Golf Foundation’s Fund Raiser tournaments, held annually in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, continually garner support for the cause of producing golf champions from India, with a special focus on players from underprivileged and marginalized backgrounds. Additionally, the foundation has been conducting nationwide talent search events, identifying beneficiaries who will benefit from a comprehensive training program.
